After going 4-10 in one-goal games last season, the Moose Jaw Generals won their third straight one-goal contest to start the 2018-19 season after beating the defending champion Notre Dame Hounds, 2-1, at the Duncan McNeill Arena on Tuesday night.

Generals goalie Reece Hodson turned away 37 shots to backstop Moose Jaw to its second straight win overall and a 3-2-0-0 record over to start the season in the Saskatchewan Midget AAA Hockey League.

Jake Dale scored for Notre Dame midway through the first period, but Casey McDonald answered back for the Generals just 2:10 later with a power play marker to tie the game at 1-1 after one.

Generals forward Jake Palmer gave Moose Jaw the lead midway through the second period.

Hodson was key for the Generals in sealing the win during the third period as the Hounds outshot Moose Jaw 13-2 in the frame. Notre Dame outshot Moose Jaw 38-16 overall.

The Generals held the Hounds to a 0-for-6 mark on the power play, while they went 1-for-3 with the man advantage.

The Generals are back on the ice coming up next Thursday when they host the Swift Current Legionnaires for their home opener at Mosaic Place.
